Responsibilities
The Assistant Controller will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of our financial operations. Your key responsibilities will include
- Overseeing the daily operations of our Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable departments, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and processed.
- Reviewing and approving journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Monitoring internal controls, identifying any potential risks or issues, and implementing appropriate measures to mitigate them.
- Supervising a team of financial staff, providing guidance and support, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Assisting with the preparation of financial reports and statements, ensuring they comply with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Collaborating with other departments and stakeholders to improve financial processes and systems.
- Participating in audits and liaising with external auditors as required.
- Assisting with budget preparation and financial planning processes.
- Staying abreast of industry trends and legislative changes that may impact our financial operations.
To be successful in this role, you will need
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A Master's degree or a professional certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the Construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
- Proven experience in monitoring internal controls and managing risks.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role, with a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- A solid understanding of financial regulations and standards in the Mortgage industry.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, and to work effectively under pressure.
