Responsibilities
- Review title and prepare title commitment packages, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Provide legal guidance on underwriting issues and risk management, demonstrating a deep understanding of the title and mortgage industry.
- Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks.
- Develop and implement underwriting policies and procedures in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Offer legal advice and support on complex underwriting issues and transactions.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws related to mortgage lending and underwriting.
- Participate in the development of strategic business plans, contributing to the overall growth and success of the company.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Maryland.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the mortgage industry, with a focus on underwriting and risk management.
- Strong knowledge of mortgage lending and underwriting laws and regulations.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal professionals.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
