Job Details
- Provide legal defense representation to clients alleging violations of their civil rights, including discrimination based on race, sex, religion, age, disability, and other protected characteristics.
- Conduct comprehensive legal defense research and analysis to support case development and litigation strategy.
- Draft, review, and file legal documents, including complaints, motions, briefs, and appeals.
- Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients in mediation and other dispute resolution proceedings.
- Advocate for clients in court proceedings, presenting compelling arguments and evidence to support their cases.
- Stay updated on developments in civil rights law and related areas, and apply this knowledge to the benefit of clients.
- Collaborate with a team of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure the efficient and effective handling of cases.
- Provide legal advice and guidance to clients, helping them understand their rights and options.
- Participate in community outreach and education activities, raising awareness of civil rights issues and the firm's services.
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
- Must have passed the Bar Examination in the state of practice.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in civil rights litigation, with a strong record of successful outcomes.
- Extensive experience in mediation, with excellent negotiation skills.
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state civil rights laws, court procedures, and rules of evidence.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop effective litigation strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex legal concepts in a clear and persuasive manner.
- High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
- Ability to work well in a team and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Passion for civil rights and a commitment to advancing justice and equality.
