The Controller is responsible for overseeing the organization's accounting operations and financial reporting. This includes managing the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee the accounting and finance functions for six different legal entities encompassing businesses in marketing, media, events, real estate brokerage, adventure travel, and bucking bull investors
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and present detailed reports to upper management
- Lead annual budgeting process for multiple departments, aligning financial plans with organizational goals
- Develop and implement forecasting models to aid in strategic decision-making and long-term planning
- Review and prepare balance sheet reconciliations and month end journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, optimizing cash flow and vendor relationships
- Prepare data for audits and tax returns to ensure compliance with all regulations
- Manage payroll processing, including the calculation and distribution of commissions and other compensation
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls and accounting policies
- Supervise and develop the accounting team
- Coordinate with CPA on tax preparation, filings and audits as required
- Budgeting and Forecasting
- QuickBooks Experience required
- Financial & Variance Analysis
- Account Reconciliations
- Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA certification preferred
- 7 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3-5 years in a Controller or senior-level role
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial reporting, and regulatory compliance
- Proficient in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with accounting software and data analysis tools
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
