DevOps Engineer
As a key member of the DevOps team, the Engineer will leverage people, processes, and technology to drive collaboration and innovation across the entire software development, operations, and release process. The ideal candidate will work independently to explore new technologies, recommend and implement solutions, and contribute to complex projects.
Responsibilities:
Plan and execute goals independently, relying on experience and sound judgment.
Facilitate cross-functional communication between Sales, Engineering, Configuration Management, Support, and Project Management teams.
Apply DevOps best practices to improve processes across all phases of development, ensuring end-to-end quality.
Design and build robust infrastructure to optimize service delivery and uptime in both cloud-based and on-prem environments.
Implement and maintain automated infrastructure capabilities, including backups, security tools, and monitoring systems.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve processes for building, packaging, and deploying software.
Establish baseline performance metrics, track trends, and optimize deployments and configurations.
Identify and implement new tools to enhance deployment infrastructure and monitoring.
Manage virtual machine setup and configuration using VMware, Hyper-V, and other platforms.
Develop and maintain automated configuration management (CM) processes for deployments.
Install and troubleshoot proprietary, public, and third-party software in development, test, and production environments. Maintain detailed installation documentation.
Oversee Kubernetes cluster management, including setup, configuration, deployment, and updates for pods, containers, nodes, and storage accounts.
Maintain accurate software release records for customer sites.
Perform database imports/exports, execute scripts, and create/run complex SQL queries.
Conduct field device testing, software rollouts, OS patching, application configuration, and third-party tool upgrades.
Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Operations to design, document, and propose architecture solutions for customers.
Provide 24/7 on-call support for infrastructure-related issues, ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
Qualifications & Competencies:
3-6 years of experience designing, deploying, and maintaining on-premises and cloud-hosted solutions.
Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer in a scalable production environment.
Expertise in DevOps methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development workflows.
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and management platforms such as Rancher.
Proficiency in version control systems like Git and hosted platforms such as GitHub or Bitbucket.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as CircleCI and Jenkins.
Strong scripting skills in Python, Perl, Bash, PowerShell, or PHP.
Experience with programming languages such as Java, Go, JavaScript, and C .
Familiarity with API endpoints such as REST, GraphQL, and SOAP.
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to manage complex technical issues.
Proficiency in Linux and/or Windows OS administration.
Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
Experience managing multi-node clusters, including maintenance tasks like IP address changes and storage configuration adjustments.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage tasks independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
