Summary
As our Director of Business Development, you will drive growth by leading strategic partnerships and expanding key accounts across North America. This role aligns closely with senior leadership and collaborates with pre-sales, operations, and account teams to deliver effective client engagement and development initiatives.
MUST-HAVES
- Experienced working directly with the DOD.
- Satellite communications/equipment experience.
- Conduct market assessments and drive business development across the DoD, with a focus on the Army, SOCOM, XXXX, and YYYY
- Identify and qualify new opportunities; support capture management and proposal development
- Own end-to-end pursuit strategies, from opportunity identification to execution
- Maintain an accurate business development pipeline aligned with strategic objectives
- Focus on positioning Satellite BUCs, Solid State Amplifiers, and Transceivers for sustainment and new deployments
- Leverage extensive relationships within the federal system integrator ecosystem
- Contribute to annual and long-term strategic business planning
- Support leadership by tracking opportunities and coordinating outreach, events, and industry days
- Assist with trade shows and ensure booth materials remain up to date
- Engage prospects through networking, referrals, RFP listings, and industry events
- Manage opportunity pipeline with win probabilities, revenue forecasts, and budget inputs
- Analyze RFPs for technical, schedule, and profitability feasibility
- Determine teaming needs; identify and qualify partners for prime and subcontracting opportunities
- 7–10 years of progressive BD experience in DoD contracting
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
- Proven sales/capture success at the project level or higher
- Strong background in BD, program/project management, and general management
- Deep understanding of government processes and procedures
- Satellite communications/equipment experience preferred
- Current DoD facilities program experience (scope, quality, schedule, cost)
- Knowledge of key decision makers, strategy, and programs in the defense space
- Active clearance is a plus; must be eligible for one if needed
- Collaborative leader with cross-functional team coordination skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Technical writing experience is a plus
- Skilled in creating and delivering effective sales presentations
- Army (SOCOM), Navy (SPAWAR, NAVFAC, NAVSEA, NAVAIR, NAVSUP), and Air Force experience preferred
