Responsibilities
As the Permanent Director of Tax, you will
- Lead and manage the company's tax planning, compliance, and reporting functions.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize tax liabilities and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Oversee the preparation and review of all tax returns and related reports.
- Provide expert guidance on tax implications of business decisions, including mergers and acquisitions, new product development, and other strategic initiatives.
- Work closely with external auditors and tax consultants to manage audits and examinations.
- Monitor and analyze proposed and enacted tax legislation to determine financial impact on the company.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide tax advice and support on business matters.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulations, industry trends, and best practices.
The ideal candidate for the Director of Tax position will have
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. An active CPA is REQUIRED!
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive tax experience, preferably in the engineering industry with a focus on Aerospace and Aviation.
- Proven experience with FIN 48 and tax accounting.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax codes and regulations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues to non-tax professionals.
- Proficiency with tax software and other relevant technology.
