Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Employment Law Trial Defense Attorney with a strong specialization in defending public education clients. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of California employment law, particularly as it relates to public sector employment, and have substantial trial experience. This role involves representing public education institutions in a variety of employment-related disputes, providing strategic legal advice, and managing all aspects of litigation.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent public education clients in employment law disputes, including claims related to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour issues.
• Provide counsel on employment law matters, ensuring compliance with California state and federal laws, as well as local regulations specific to public education institutions.
• Conduct case analysis, develop defense strategies, and manage all phases of litigation, including discovery, motions, depositions, and trials.
• Collaborate with clients to prepare witnesses, gather evidence, and develop case strategies tailored to public education settings.
• Draft and argue motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Negotiate settlements when appropriate and in the best interests of the client.
• Stay informed on legal and regulatory changes affecting public education employment law.
  
  

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in California.
• Minimum of seven years of experience in employment law with substantial trial experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in public education employment law and an understanding of the unique challenges faced by public education institutions.
• Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and a client-focused approach.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with public school districts, community colleges, or other public education institutions.
• Familiarity with California Education Code, Title VII, FEHA, and other relevant employment laws and regulations.
