Energy Engineer (HERS Rater) - NYC (Hybrid/Remote)
We are seeking Energy Efficiency Engineer with HERS Rater experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy efficiency, sustainability, and project management. This role involves working closely with clients, builders, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with local energy codes and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a consultant for energy rebate programs and third-party HERS rater for architectural plans.
- Identify potential barriers to compliance with local energy codes and provide recommendations for insulation values, HVAC equipment, solar, and geothermal power.
- Oversee new construction, additions, and alterations for single and multi-family residences, apartment buildings, and condominium developments.
- Maintain knowledge of energy codes and regulations.
- Educate and support clients on energy efficiency measures, building relationships with builders, architects, and homeowners.
- Document all interactions and guidance provided, serving as a liaison between the builder and architect.
- Ensure open communication between all stakeholders and contractors while preparing for town energy inspections.
- Present contractors with necessary deliverables and documents to obtain town permits once the plan passes assessments.
- Collaborate with field energy raters post-construction to ensure code compliance throughout the building process.
- Advise field energy raters for troubleshooting energy compliance in real-time during various tests.
- Finalize models for ASHRAE QA department and provide certificates once the building has passed inspection.
- Manage multiple projects with competing deadlines to ensure timely progression.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and office accountants on project progression and bottlenecks.
- Maintain project statuses within Excel.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Master's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- HERS Rater Certification Highly Desired, Not Required
- Certified by the Building Performance Institute in Building Analytics and Energy Audits.
- Proficiency in REM/Rate, RESCheck, Ekotrope, PlanSwift, Salesforce, Basecamp, Microsoft Office, and Stella Professional.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
