We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Civil Estimator to join our team. This is a permanent, full-time position within our organization. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in our construction projects, providing accurate cost estimates that drive our strategic decision-making. The role involves preparing financial estimates by analyzing proposals and requirements for construction projects. This includes heavy civil, pavement, concrete, and earthwork projects.
Responsibilities
- Analyze blueprints, construction drawings, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Prepare detailed cost budgets and necessary reports for construction projects.
- Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
- Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction.
- Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
- Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
- Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
- Establish and maintain tendering process, and conduct negotiations.
- A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in civil construction, with a focus on heavy civil, pavement, concrete, and earthworks.
- Proven experience as a Civil Estimator or similar role.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and legal requirements.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical abilities.
- Proficiency in relevant software, including CAD and estimation software.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
