Job Title: Permanent Intellectual Property Counsel Attorney (Patent Agent)
This role involves managing all aspects of intellectual property rights, including patent prosecution, product clearance, and trademarking for a large medical device and software-related services company.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced candidate with a strong background in electrical engineering, software, and medical devices, as well as a thorough understanding of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation and prosecution of patent applications and manage the patent portfolios of the company.
- Conduct product clearance studies and risk assessments for new products and technologies.
- Provide legal advice and guidance on all matters related to intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
- Collaborate with engineers and product development teams to identify patentable inventions and ensure protection of intellectual property rights.
- Monitor and enforce intellectual property rights, including managing potential infringements and litigations.
- Provide training and education to the company staff on intellectual property matters.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in intellectual property laws and regulations and advise the company accordingly.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and a current license to practice law.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in intellectual property law, specifically in patent prosecution and product clearance.
- Strong technical background in electrical engineering, software, and medical devices.
- Excellent knowledge of US and international intellectual property laws and regulations.
- Experience in the tech services industry is a plus.
