Job Details

We are currently seeking an experienced and highly motivated Jumbo Underwriter to join our dynamic mortgage team. This exciting role involves underwriting large loan amounts (Jumbo Loans) and ensuring compliance with industry and company guidelines. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating loan applications and borrower’s creditworthiness, providing risk assessments, and making loan decisions. If you have a strong understanding of the mortgage industry, possess excellent analytical skills, and have a knack for detail, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze loan applications and supporting documents to assess the borrower's creditworthiness.
• Underwrite Jumbo residential mortgage loans in accordance with agency and non-agency guidelines.
• Utilize Encompass loan origination software to manage and process loans.
• Evaluate and verify loan applications to determine the risk involved for the lender.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of prime and non-QM lending guidelines, regulatory requirements, and the company's underwriting policies and procedures.
• Ensure that all loan documentation, including income, credit, appraisal, and title, is complete and accurate.
• Communicate effectively with loan officers, processors, and closers to resolve underwriting issues.
• Manage a high volume of loans while maintaining quality and efficiency.
• Provide feedback and coaching to loan originators and processors to improve the quality of submitted files.
• Stay updated with changing rules, regulations, and trends in the mortgage industry.
  
  

Job Details

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mortgage underwriting, including experience with Jumbo loans.
• Proficiency in agency guidelines and non-QM products.
• Strong knowledge of prime lending and risk-based pricing.
• Experience with Encompass loan origination software is a must.
• Demonstrated ability to handle high loan volume while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret and apply complex financial data.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state mortgage laws and regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
• DE (Direct Endorsement) or SAR (Staff Appraisal Reviewer) certification would be a plus.
