We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in our litigation department, providing essential support to our attorneys in all stages of litigation processes. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in the legal industry, with a strong focus on calendaring litigation deadlines. If you have a passion for law, a keen eye for detail, and a knack for organization, then we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Draft formal legal documents, including pleadings, discovery responses, and correspondence with opposing counsel, experts, and clients.
Attend and manage all aspects of trial preparation, ensuring thorough organization of case files and trial materials.
Handle the preparation and filing of court documents in both state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with relevant deadlines and procedures.
Calculate and track both state and federal pleading and discovery deadlines.
Issue Document and Work Quality (DWQ) requests for medical and billing records, Open Records Requests, and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
Draft medical summaries, deposition summaries, and other litigation-related documents.
Conduct legal research using LexisNexis and other relevant databases.
Prepare responses to discovery requests, draft responsive pleadings, and organize documents for production.
Manage and maintain a busy docket and calendar, ensuring timely filing and compliance with all deadlines.
Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel.
Work independently and efficiently, demonstrating strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Qualifications
At least 10 years of experience as a litigation paralegal.
Bachelor’s Degree Preferred Or Equivalent Professional Experience.
Extensive trial experience, including managing all aspects of trial preparation.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management software.
Experience calculating state and federal pleading and discovery deadlines.
Experience issuing DWQs for medical records, billing records, Open Records Requests, and FOIA requests.
Skilled in drafting medical and deposition summaries.
Experience Conducting Legal Research Using LexisNexis And Other Resources.
Knowledge of court filing procedures and experience filing in both state and federal courts.
Bilingual in Spanish (spoken and written) is preferred.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage a high volume of cases.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
