Responsibilities
As a Machinist, your key responsibilities will include
- Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints to understand the requirements of products and components.
- Determining and programming size of batches, speed of machine, etc.
- Monitoring and adjusting machine settings as needed and determining product specifications.
- Performing routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages.
- Using precision tools, machinery, and equipment such as lathe, vertical milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, chop saw, band saw, push and pull broaches and a variety of cutting tools and equipment.
- Fabricating and shaping parts to fit into subassemblies and assemblies.
- Using micrometers, verniers, calipers, vices, clamping fixtures, machine vices, hand tools, and dowel pins.
- Conducting quality control checks through inspections and tests.
- Documenting completed work and maintaining records.
- Ensuring the shop area is kept clean and organized at all times.
- Adhering to all safety protocol and procedures.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Machinist in the manufacturing/construction industry.
- Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders, etc.)
- Ability to use precision tools (e.g., micrometers) to take accurate measurements.
