We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Consulting Network Engineer to join our team in the Accounting and Finance industry. This role is ideal for a candidate who has a deep understanding of networking protocols and network security, and is proficient in Cisco. The successful candidate will have a strong background in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting various network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls. The Consulting Network Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization.
Responsibilities:
1. Establish the networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, and defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
2. Design and implement new solutions and improve the resilience of the current environment.
3. Maximize network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
4. Secure network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access.
5. Support and administer firewall environments in line with IT security policy.
6. Report network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information and managing projects.
7. Upgrade data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases.
8. Configure routing and switching equipment, hosted IP voice services, and firewalls.
9. Provide remote support to on-site engineers and end users/customers during installation.
10. Provide remote troubleshooting and fault-finding if issues occur upon initial installation.
11. Undertake data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments, using information from multiple sources.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field.
2. 5 years of experience in a network engineering role.
3. CCNA, CCNP, or other relevant Cisco certifications are required.
4. Solid understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
5. Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers.
6. Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
7. Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
8. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection.
9. Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.
10. Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization.
11. A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.
12. Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
13. Dependable and flexible when necessary.
14. Network security experience.
15. LAN and WAN experience.
