Responsibilities
As a Mortgage Underwriting Supervisor, your primary responsibilities will include
- Reviewing and analyzing loan applications and supporting documents to ensure they meet company and industry standards.
- Utilizing your DE and LAPP/SAR certification to endorse FHA and VA loans.
- Making informed decisions on loan approvals and denials based on thorough analysis and in compliance with company policies and federal regulations.
- Providing detailed feedback to loan officers and processors to ensure the mortgage process runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Collaborating with the loan processing team to resolve any discrepancies or issues that may arise during the underwriting process.
- Keeping abreast of changes in policies and regulations that may impact the underwriting process.
- Assisting in training and guiding junior underwriters and other team members.
- Participating in regular team meetings and contributing to the overall improvement of the underwriting process.
- Supervising a pod of Underwriters in your area
To be considered for this position, you must possess
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mortgage Underwriting Supervisor.
- DE (Direct Endorsement) and LAPP/SAR certification.
- Proficiency in underwriting FHA and VA loans.
- Strong knowledge of mortgage industry regulations and guidelines.
- Proven experience in reviewing and analyzing complex financial documents.
- Exceptional decision-making skills with the ability to make sound judgments under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work effectively within a remote team.
- Experience in a supervisory or team lead role would be highly advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using mortgage loan software and other related computer applications.
