Job Details
Responsibilities:
Develop a deep understanding of products, practices, and capabilities, and apply innovative solutions to new product designs and design improvements.
Develop and document engineering specifications, material requirements, and process ECNs.
Leads other engineers in major development projects - makes work assignments and follows up on work content. Instructs junior engineers on process and problem solving.
3D Modeling and creation of customer and production drawings using Creo Parametric including highly customized/complex products.
Leads the development of new features or highly complex designs.
Lead the resolution of design challenges and quality issues by applying an in-depth understanding of the science behind the design through appropriate engineering analysis including FEA, tolerance analysis, statistical methods, simulation, calculation, and other engineering methodologies.
Owns the experimentation, validation, and verification of new and improved product designs.
Provide leadership and technical expertise to junior engineers to ensure test plans are robust and ensure products perform as required. Partner with the Reliability Lab to develop R&D test plans to validate engineering designs to product requirements and advance in-house testing capabilities.
Lead continuous improvement activities through identification and implementation of process improvements leading to improved efficiency on design automation and repetitive tasks.
Communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization both orally and in written fashion. Coordinate engineering activity with partners and design sites. Participate in setting design standards across the organization.
Investigate new technologies to be applied to future products.
Research, recommend, and implement cutting edge technologies and techniques related to product prototyping and manufacturing
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years of relative experience or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2 years of relative experience.
Proficiency and expertise in 3D Modeling. Ability to produce supporting documentation including 2D drawings and FEA analysis.
Experience in new product development.
Working knowledge of machining, structural steel weldments and sheet metal.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Strong oral communications skills (English).
Strong analytical skills in structural analysis, tolerance analysis, and GD&T.
Preferred Skills and Experiences:
Experience in new product development utilizing a gated process.
Project management experience.
Demonstrated leadership abilities in product development and continuous improvement.
Working experience with FEA software.
Advanced Creo Parametric modelling skills working parametrically using logic-based equations to drive parts and assemblies.
Experience working in a custom design and build environment.
Hands-on building ability with Corian, wood, and/or steel; prototyping experience
