Handle trust and estate litigation matters while maintaining a focused estate planning and administration practice. This position offers significant client contact, court appearances, and direct case responsibility.
Required Experience & Skills
- 5-10 years of trust and estate litigation experience (will consider candidates outside this range)
- Demonstrated courtroom experience including motion practice and oral arguments
- Strong record handling contested matters including will contests, accounting proceedings, and fiduciary disputes
- Knowledge of estate/trust administration and planning fundamentals
- Active NJ bar membership
Litigation (70-80%)
- Manage contested matters with pathway to first-chair trial work
- Lead motion practice, discovery, and witness preparation
- Handle mediations and settlement negotiations
- Regular Surrogate's Court appearances
- Research and draft complex pleadings and memoranda
- Handle uncontested probate and administration proceedings
- Assist with preparation of estate planning documents
- Review accountings and tax returns
- Support fiduciaries in estate administration
- Established courtroom presence and motion practice experience
- Superior writing and oral advocacy abilities
- Strong client relationship skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple matters efficiently
- Experience in Surrogate's Court practice preferred
