Job Summary
The Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory is seeking an advanced-level soils testing technician to perform advanced laboratory testing of materials for engineering applications. The ideal candidate will collaborate with researchers and department staff to develop and implement testing methodologies for soil and aggregate materials. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects, and physical capability to meet the demands of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced testing according to prescribed methodologies, including but not limited to moisture-density relations of soils, resilient modulus, direct shear, limerock bearing ratio, soil classifications, and unconfined compressive strength.
- Collaborate with researchers and staff to develop and implement testing methodologies for research projects funded by FDOT.
- Enter data for reporting and perform data quality assurance checks.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols for laboratory testing.
- Ensure accurate and consistent information by reviewing and analyzing collected data.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and maintain required turnaround times.
- Troubleshoot and operate mechanical equipment as needed.
