Job Summary :

The Material Handling Operator is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of stationary and mobile bulk material handling equipment used to receive, store, prepare, and reclaim fuel. The role is crucial to ensuring a consistent fuel supply and preventing disruptions in power generation. The operator must use judgment to adapt established procedures and solve complex problems as they arise, maintaining safety and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Front End Loader Operator experience is a MUST

Key Responsibilities :

Equipment Operation & Maintenance :
Operate and maintain bulk material handling equipment, including rubber-tired front-end loaders, track-type dozers, track-type excavators, and rubber-tired backhoes.
Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on both stationary and mobile material handling equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent disruptions.
Fuel Handling :
Receive, store, prepare, and reclaim fuel using bulk material handling systems to ensure a consistent supply for power generation.
Compliance & Safety :
Follow operations and maintenance procedures, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
Identify and mitigate occupational hazards, applying proper safety precautions and safe work practices.
Problem-Solving & Technical Support :
Use judgment to solve complex problems related to material handling systems and equipment, making recommendations for adjustments or new methods when required.
Work with other workgroups, vendors, contractors, and marine vessel crews to gather, clarify, and provide relevant information.
Equipment Maintenance & Minor Repairs :
Perform minor repairs on material handling equipment and utilize hand tools for regular maintenance tasks.
Record Keeping :
Maintain logs and records for the operation, maintenance, and repairs of material handling equipment as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Experience :

Knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards related to the operation and maintenance of material handling equipment.

Ability to perform troubleshooting and minor repairs on bulk material handling equipment.

Technical Knowledge :

Familiarity with safety regulations, clearance procedures, and work practices related to material handling.

Understanding of operating hand tools and equipment to maintain and repair material handling systems.

Problem-Solving :

Ability to solve complex operational problems within established parameters and recommend new methods or procedures when needed.

Physical Requirements :

Ability to operate mobile equipment and perform physical tasks, including occasional lifting and movement of materials.

Willingness to work extended hours and shift schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, on a rotational basis.
