Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in blood draws, specimen preparation, and patient care. Your ability to ensure patient comfort while obtaining high-quality samples is essential to maintaining our commitment to excellence in diagnostic services.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform blood draws and specimen collection with precision and minimal patient discomfort.
  • Properly label, centrifuge, split, and store specimens following established procedures.
  • Explain venipuncture and specimen collection procedures (e.g., urine, fecal) to patients in a clear and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using straight and butterfly needles.
  • Accurately match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Package and prepare specimens for transport while maintaining sample integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations for safe handling and processing of specimens.
  • Update patient information and maintain accurate records.
  • Troubleshoot specimen collection issues and recommend workflow improvements.
  • Answer patient and provider inquiries regarding laboratory results.
  • Participate in annual department training sessions.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid Phlebotomy Certification (as required by state regulations).
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • 2-4 years of overall experience in a healthcare or laboratory setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Certification: Basic Life Support
