Job Title: Accountant (Construction Industry)

A leading construction company is seeking an experienced Accountant with a strong background in construction accounting and prior public accounting experience to join their team. This is a great opportunity to work closely with the Controller in managing quarterly and annual financials, ensuring accurate month-end reconciliations, and assisting with complex project billing.

Job Description:
As an experienced Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing the financials of construction projects, ensuring job costing is properly allocated, and supporting the month-end and year-end close processes. You will also work directly with the billing team to assist with large, complex jobs and ensure all financials are accurate and up to date.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Controller with the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Perform monthly reconciliations and ensure all accounts are accurate and up to date.
• Manage job costing processes, ensuring costs are allocated to the correct jobs and projects.
• Collaborate with the billing department on large and complex projects to ensure accurate invoicing.
• Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts for ongoing and future projects.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and accounting standards.
• Work with various teams to improve financial processes and efficiency.
• Utilize accounting software, including MQ (if applicable), to track and report financials.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
• Must have experience in construction accounting, with a solid understanding of job costing, project-based accounting, and cost allocation.
• Prior public accounting experience is a plus.
• Experience with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Proficiency in accounting software (MQ software experience is a plus).
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
