Job Overview: Houseperson (Houseman)
Position Summary:
The Houseperson (Houseman) plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and overall presentation of a hotel, resort, or residential property. This position supports the housekeeping team by ensuring common areas are clean, delivering supplies, and assisting with special cleaning projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of public areas, hallways, and guest corridors.
- Assist housekeepers by delivering linens, towels, and cleaning supplies to rooms.
- Collect and dispose of trash from common areas and housekeeping stations.
- Ensure floors, carpets, and furniture in common areas are clean and well-maintained.
- Assist with deep cleaning projects, including shampooing carpets and polishing floors.
- Set up and break down meeting rooms or event spaces as needed.
- Respond to guest requests for additional items such as extra bedding or amenities.
- Report maintenance issues or damages to management for prompt resolution.
- Follow safety and sanitation procedures in all tasks.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Prior experience in housekeeping or hospitality is a plus but not required.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and stand for long periods.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced setting, often in hotels, resorts, or large residential properties.
- May require lifting, bending, pushing carts, and standing for extended periods.
