The University of Iowa Health Care department of Safety & Security is seeking a part time HR Associate to provide support for the effective delivery of human resources duties in the department. As part of a human resources team, this position provides human resources support in talent management and engagement, human resources program administration and operations, and human resources compliance.
- Initiate HR transactions, including but not limited to change of status, termination, appointment, etc.; attach appropriate documentation in accord with University, CCOM and UIHC procedures
- Assist with review of timecards; ensure compliance with applicable law (e.g. FLSA), University policies, and collective bargaining agreements; review and address critical exceptions in ELMS; answer questions from supervisors and staff; run comprehensive payroll reports, as necessary
- Support onboarding process for faculty and staff
- Submit requests for account creation and/or system access; respond to HCIS requests and inquiries; troubleshoot problems or issues
- Distribute length of service awards and provide supervisors with information and resources for effective delivery
- Coordinate separation process for staff; assist with scheduling exit interviews; complete HR termination checklist; collect badge, keys, etc.; work with Division Coordinator or supervisor to ensure other UI-issued equipment is collected; contact HCIS to terminate account, as needed
- Support recruitment activities
- Coordinate onboarding process; complete HR orientation with employee
- Follow up with employees regarding compliances overdue or coming due
- Respond to questions/inquires related to compliance requirements
- Maintain confidential personnel files; review and audit files to ensure compliance
- Respond to inquiries and questions; work closely with HR team members
- Prepare comprehensive HR reports, including compliance delinquency, payroll and other ad-hoc reports

Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated related human resources experience
- Demonstrated experience providing excellent and timely customer service in a high volume and fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer software applications
Desirable Qualifications
- Prior human resources or customer service experience in a large, complex organization, or hospital setting
- Knowledge of and experience with HR systems (e.g. HRIS, HRMS, payroll, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience successfully balancing multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
