This position is primarily responsible for providing direct support, consultation, guidance, and training to users, and to identify technical and data solutions for both the Institute for Clinical and Translational Science and its supported user community of researchers. Assist researchers with data needs through query design and consultations. This position will work with a wide variety of faculty, staff, and students to assist in their research efforts and will require strong communication skills and an understanding of the research process to facilitate technology solutions for research teams. Support the daily operations of the Institute for Clinical and Translational Science and assist with technology planning to maximize user and organizational effectiveness.
Duties to include but not limited to:
- Provide IT implementation and maintenance support for a variety of research services and tools.
- May perform helpdesk functions and/or direct user support.
- Troubleshoot assigned applications and customer reported issues.
- Provide basic one-on-one guidance and consultation to users.
- Translate customer needs to technical teams.
- Provide basic one-on-one instruction.
- Provide training utilizing appropriate technology.
- Provide basic documentation of user support activities/incidents.
- Update existing documentation of support services.
- Assist the Project Manager and Service Manager with the implementation of approved projects, providing project support and services.
- Assist with maintaining current projects changes and upgrades to systems and tools.
- May participate in the planning process for developing operating procedures, guidelines, and policies.
- Make recommendations based on customer support experience and feedback, advocating for customer needs.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Informatics, Instructional Technology, Information Science, Health Science related degree, or other related degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience in information technology support or healthcare may also serve to meet these minimum requirements.
- Experience, typically 6 months -1 year in customer service or managing customer relationships.
- Experience with requirements elicitation and documentation for projects and initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; the ability to explain technology concepts to non-technical faculty, staff and students.
- Demonstrated ability to use a systematic troubleshooting approach to identify and resolve technical problems.
- Experience developing and maintaining reference documents for both external use (customers/clients) and internal use (knowledge management).
- Experience working on cross-functional teams.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience, usually 6 months-1 year providing technical support in a higher educational setting, academic healthcare or academic research environment.
- Familiarity with any of the following: databases, healthcare data, research data collection, electronical medical record data or familiarity of query logic.
- Familiarity with medical coding and medical terminology.
- Experience identifying clinical cohorts for research studies.
- Experience handling and working with clinical data for research.
- Experience working with data tools for research study prep and feasibility.
- Understanding of HIPAA, FERPA and FISMA.
- Experience with Project Management fundamentals.
