Job Description:
We are seeking an Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurse (RN) for a 16-week contract in Fort Defiance, AZ. The ER RN will provide direct patient care in a fast-paced emergency department and rotate between the Main ER (11 beds), ER Fast Track (6 beds), and ER Observation Unit (7 beds). Nurses are also expected to rotate through triage, quick registration, COVID-19 tent, and entry screening areas based on patient volume and unit needs.
Contract Duration: 16 Weeks
Shift: 12-hour shifts (primarily nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) but must be flexible to work other shifts as needed. Schedule typically follows a 7-on, 7-off rotation with 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next.
Additionally, the ER RN may be assigned to assist with COVID testing and immunization clinics as needed. Travelers should be prepared to float to other qualified departments when necessary, either assuming patient care responsibilities or assisting with unit tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide emergency and trauma nursing care to patients of all ages.
- Rotate between ER, Fast Track, and Observation Unit as needed.
- Perform triage assessments and prioritize patient care based on acuity.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and conscious sedation as required.
- Assist in COVID-19 testing, screening, and immunization efforts.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
- Respond to emergency situations, including trauma, cardiac arrest, and respiratory distress.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care.
- Be flexible to shift changes based on facility staffing needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Active RN license (state-specific or compact).
- Minimum 2 years of recent ER nursing experience (additional experience may be required).
- American Heart Association (AHA) certifications required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Conscious Sedation Certification (can be obtained onsite after confirmation; $105 fee).
Healthcare Setting:
