JOB SUMMARY :

The Nursing Program Coordinator is responsible for serving as the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) liaison and super user for the Jefferson County Department of Health. Duties related to managing and overseeing the EMR system include troubleshooting problems, setting up EMR access for employees, and reviewing / auditing medical records in the system to ensure compliance. Employees in this job class also develop, implement and evaluate nursing protocols for pediatric and adult primary care and family planning programs. Nursing Program Coordinators perform a variety of supervisory duties as well, including : providing orientation for new employees, training existing employees involved in patient care activities, assigning work to subordinates, and reviewing work for compliance with policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

The following are job-related qualifications that are required for employment consideration for this position :

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama
• Experience providing training to clinic or healthcare staff (e.g., policies and procedures, new equipment, new clinical employees, lab work procedures, Electronic Medical Records, standards of care, infection control, etc.).
• Experience developing reviewing, revising, or updating clinical or healthcare policies, procedures, protocols, or processes (e.g., improving patient care, improving clinical operations, ensuring compliance, ensuring infections control, etc.).

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

Work is performed primarily within medical or healthcare facilities. Work involves use of medical tools and equipment necessary for the care and / or diagnosis of healthcare patients. May be exposed to a variety of adverse working conditions, including : exposure to bodily fluids and other bio-hazard materials (e.g., urine, sweat, saliva, blood, etc.), and exposure to contagious or infectious diseases. Job requires continuous education to maintain certification / licensure.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

Job involves physical exertion required for sustained periods of light physical activity such as walking or standing. May involve occasional lifting of items or objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
