Job Summary The Business Development Officer (BDO) is responsible for driving Small Business Administration (SBA) lending and other commercial financing solutions, including equipment leasing and asset-based lending (ABL), to small businesses nationwide. This role encompasses full-lifecycle relationship management—from lead generation and underwriting to closing and ongoing client engagement—while balancing growth and risk. Key Responsibilities
- Originate SBA loans, equipment leases, and ABL transactions to support small businesses across the U.S.
- Develop, nurture, and manage relationships with customers, brokers, and referral sources who engage directly with small business owners.
- Leverage networking and referrals to identify and cultivate qualified leads.
- Expand the Bank’s market presence in assigned territories through targeted outreach and strategic partnerships.
- Promote the Bank’s entrepreneurial lending philosophy and commitment to supporting small business growth.
- Collaborate with the Chief Business Development Officer and marketing team to create and execute sales strategies.
- Manage the loan process from application to funding: gather documentation, structure deals, submit for underwriting, and present to the Credit Committee.
- Identify credit-worthy opportunities and recommend appropriate financing solutions.
- Secure signed commitments post-approval and coordinate loan funding with the Operations team.
- Meet or exceed annual production targets.
- Maintain accurate records and pipeline updates using Salesforce and other origination tools.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum of 5 years of sales experience in financial services, with a strong background in SBA lending.
- Demonstrated ability to serve small business owners with tailored financial solutions.
- Proven track record of producing $20MM annually in SBA and commercial financing over the past three years.
- Strong knowledge of credit analysis, commercial loan structuring, and risk management.
- Familiarity with SBA loan programs and underwriting standards.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting financial statements and cash flow analyses.
- Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonal.
- Strong B2B sales and relationship management capabilities.
- Established referral network preferred.
- Location flexible—position may be based nationally.
