This role is responsible for leading a team of maintenance technicians, overseeing plant facilities, maintaining and improving existing equipment, and designing and implementing new machinery and processes. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Mechanical Engineer will play a crucial role in driving continuous improvement in safety, product quality, and process efficiency. Primary Responsibilities
- Develop & Implement Maintenance Procedures: Ensure proper maintenance protocols are followed across the facility.
- Manufacturing Process Optimization: Evaluate and improve manufacturing methods to enhance efficiency.
- Machine Troubleshooting & Repair: Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills in electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing systems.
- Workforce & Workflow Planning: Optimize space utilization and work processes for maximum efficiency.
- Machinery & Tooling Design: Develop and implement new machinery and tooling to improve production methods.
- Vendor Coordination: Work with suppliers to determine product specifications, procure equipment, and evaluate quality standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with management, engineering, and production teams to improve manufacturing capabilities.
- Budget & Cost Estimation: Forecast production times, staffing needs, and related costs for management decision-making.
- Facility & Equipment Management: Oversee repair and installation activities, track maintenance activities, and manage relationships with contractors.
- Preventive Maintenance (PM) Program: Maintain and improve the PM program for plant equipment and facilities.
- Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) & Budget Support: Assist in plant CAPEX planning and operating budget management.
- Flexibility in Work Schedule: Be willing to work flexible or extended hours to meet production demands.
- Other Responsibilities: Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (strongly preferred).
- Prior supervisory experience leading maintenance or engineering teams.
- Hands-on experience with maintenance programs/systems (E-Maintenance knowledge is a plus).
- PLC programming knowledge (preferred but not required).
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in hiring, training, and performance management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Problem-solving and decision-making expertise in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to influence, align teams, and drive change in operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Robotics experience is a plus.
