The role of an NP varies depending on their area of specialisation (e.g., family medicine, paediatrics, geriatrics, psychiatric, etc.).

Key Responsibilities
Patient Assessment:
- Conduct detailed physical exams and patient histories.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., blood work, X-rays, etc.).
- Review patient records and health history to understand their medical condition and risks.
- Assess patient symptoms to make accurate diagnoses.
- Develop a differential diagnosis list and prioritize medical conditions.
- Order additional tests or refer patients to specialists as needed.
Education:
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
- Successful completion of clinical rotations in the NP’s chosen area of specialty.
- Current and valid state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
- National certification from an accredited certifying body (e.g., ANCC, AANP) specific to the NP’s specialty (e.g., Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP), Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP)).
- State-specific prescriptive authority (if applicable).
- Previous clinical experience as a registered nurse (RN) in a healthcare setting (e.g., hospital, clinic).
- Experience in the NP's area of specialty may be preferred or required.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to develop and implement treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) and other healthcare technologies.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
- Compassion and empathy for patients, along with cultural competence.
Salary : $120,000 - $160,000
