About the Role
The Medical Assistant Instructor will work with a team of instructors who provide training in four vocational areas: healthcare, construction, information technology, and culinary arts. Our Medical Assistant program includes both day and evening courses located in Menlo Park, South San Francisco, and San Jose. This role is for a full-time hybrid day Class; the class schedule is currently two days in person and three days online.
We are looking for a responsible, qualified Instructor capable of assessing, planning, implementing, instructing, and evaluating our Medical Assistant program. You will be responsible for teaching a general Medical Assisting course. Curriculum content includes basic medical assisting procedures, administrative tasks, patient vital signs, charting, dosage calculations, injections, and blood draws.
This position is scheduled for Monday through Friday days, 40 hours per week, including instruction and prep.
Responsibilities:
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Update and deliver Medical Assistant curriculum and provide an engaging environment that encourages participation, discussion, communication, and comprehension of concepts.
Utilize a learning management system and other eLearning platforms to enhance and document student learning outcomes
Collaborate with healthcare colleagues to maintain up-to-date knowledge of current related state and federal requirements and modify curriculum accordingly
Create and maintain accurate records, schedules, and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.
Meet regularly with the Manager of Instruction and Instructional Coordinator for observation, 1:1 coaching, and professional development opportunities.
Order supplies and instructional material needed for class work.
Evaluate and document trainee progress through testing, observation, and assessments
Teach in alignment with JobTrain’s school mission and student learning outcomes, which includes our vocational schooling model where Career Development and Instruction are symbiotic, embedded, and collaborative.
Maintain professional growth in Medical Assistant expertise, instructional skills, and administrative program changes dictated by state and federal requirements through attendance at appropriate seminars, membership in professional organizations, and by following relative professional publications.

Experience
5 years' experience as a Medical Assistant
Experience as a Medical Assistant Instructor or Trainer in a Healthcare Facility
Experience working closely with care facilities, hospitals, and clinics, developing solid relationships with healthcare representatives, and connecting graduates to employment and externship opportunities is highly desirable.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge and experience navigating the healthcare industry
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly communicate concepts and effectively prepare students for the workforce
Strong organization and planning skills with an ability to manage details and maintain schedules.
Excellent interpersonal communication; Must be positive, responsive, and a motivational role model for students
Strong collaboration skills with an ability to effectively partner with JobTrain staff and community partners
Strong computer skills with competence in Microsoft Word, email, web applications, and online meeting tools.
Demonstrates ability to be a reliable team member
Lifelong learner; open to professional development and coaching opportunities led by the Manager of Instruction and outside organizations.
Ability to professionally handle and maintain confidential student information.

Compensation and Benefits
JobTrain offers a competitive pay ($66,560- $75,369) and generous benefits package including affordable health insurance, dental insurance, vision, paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, paid floating holidays, retirement program with employer match, long-term disability, life insurance and employee assistance program (EAP.)
