Responsibilities:
Achieve cafe performance metrics
- Achieve finance goals for the café - revenue growth and expense management leading to profitability
- Review operations and financial reports to identify areas to improve the business
Deliver hospitality
- Cultivate a welcoming and exciting environment centered around our craft
- Demonstrate excellent hospitality to everyone in the cafe
Lead people
- Recruit, onboard, coach, develop and inspire staff on a daily basis
- Work with the store’s coffee educators in order to educate staff on Joe coffee and products
- Write and update staff schedules that meet the demands of the business
Administrative duties
- Maintain cleanliness of cafe and cafe equipment and set up schedule for regular maintenance
- Submit operations summaries to various departments and leaders
- Manage vendor relationships
- Actively participate in manager meetings
Compensation:
- $60,000 - $70,000, with quarterly bonus potential

Joe Coffee was founded in 2003 as a singular specialty coffee house in Manhattan's West Village with the simple vision of brewing the highest quality, unique coffees and serving them with unsurpassed hospitality and knowledge. In order to bring such highly curated coffees to our customers, we worked alongside some of the most renowned domestic and international roasteries.
With the July 2013 launch of our own roasting operations in Red Hook, Brooklyn, we now roast 100% of our own single-origin and blended offerings. Whether in the roastery or in one of our now 20 cafes, we strive to effect our deeply rooted core value proposition: the desire to build, maintain and strengthen community at every level from producer to customer.
Qualifications
- A passion for coffee is a must
- Significant experience managing a cafe (at least 1 year experience)
- Ability to talk intelligently about coffee
- Possess strong espresso/drink making skills
- Ability to multitask in a complex fast-paced environment
- Ability to lead a team and cultivate a positive work environment
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
- Solid management and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Positive attitude with a “no task is too small” outlook
- Food Handlers/ServSafe licensing/certification
Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
