Our purpose and our sole focus is making schools, institutions, and public gatherings safe and secure for the people who attend them. We provide security, safety, and medical support services to empower schools, event venues, and organizers and organizations to confidently prevent and manage emergencies and protect lives.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for a Director of Safety and Security to oversee our School Security division at a client's site in New York. The Director of Safety and Security assists the district with its mission to provide the highest quality of education by providing for the safety and security of all students, staff, and property.

Essential Responsibilities

• Serve as Incident Command for all emergencies
• Serves as the school's liaison to the local Police Department, Fire Department, and other law enforcement and emergency management related agencies
• Be on-call 24/7 to respond to and/or coordinate safety and security emergencies, including weather related events
• Supervise all Campus Safety Officers and Security Managers (CSO's)
• Serve as subject-matter expert on security and crime related issues and maintain best practice information relative to safety and security
• Create and issue department policies
• Lead Investigations of criminal or other internal matters
• Schedule and leadschool required drills- Lockdown, Emergency Evacuation, and Severe Weather Drills
• Manage portable radio equipment, dispatch console and software, card access and access levels, cameras, software, and video footage
• Displays the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the schools
• Create and present Safety presentations to parents-both campuses
• In collaboration with School administration, administers the Safety and Security budget to ensure safety and security in the school and by the most cost-effective utilization of resources
• Assist with Threat Assessments of Students, Staff and Faculty
• Provide safety and security presentations for Summer Program staff
• Adheres to federal statutes and regulations, school law, Board of Education rules and regulations, School Committee policies and procedures, and contractual obligations; and
• Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the National Director of Security
  
  
  

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Preferred: Have at least five (5) years of relevant experience, in safety and/or security required in a school environment, preferably a tuition-charging private or public school within an urban district
• At least three (3) years supervisory experience, including assigning, managing, and evaluating staff required
• At least three (3) years recent successful leadership or administrator experience in field relevant to the position required
• Experience developing and managing budgets
• Have extensive work with law enforcement agencies
• Be able to work with police and safety personnel as well as school district staff; be team oriented while capable of working independently; and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with administrators, teachers, staff, and parents in a diverse school community
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with time sensitive deadlines
• Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and manage multiple tasks and priorities
• Demonstrate skills in planning, research, and management
• Be available for rapid response in emergency, crisis, or weather-related situations
• Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative
• Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community
• Be able to plan and present information to a variety of audiences
• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrate high integrity and an exceptional work ethic
• Experience using and managing access control systems
• Experience using and managing video recording and camera systems

Salary Range: $100k-$105k (can be increased dependent upon education, experience, licenses, and certifications)
