About the Position
As an employee of JOH, the Continuity Retail Merchandiser is responsible for meeting all goals, objectives, and policies established by clients, in accordance with JOH's policies and procedures.
In this position, you will focus on building and enhancing displays, communicating with retail leadership, managing your designated territory, and adhering to retail tasks and responsibilities. The role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to work independently. Merchandisers are expected to participate in all scheduled store resets and must be flexible with their hours, including occasional nights and weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities
Continuity Retail (90% of Job Expectations)
· Real-Time Reporting: Collect data within the GoSpotCheck system to provide real-time reporting on client and customer expectations.
· Maintain Distribution: Grow and maintain authorized product distribution.
· Core Mission Completion: Complete key tasks such as distribution, custom work, pricing, photography, and monthly surveys.
· Product Recalls and Conversions: Assist with recalls and product conversions as needed.
· Inventory Management: Close voids and correct phantom inventory issues.
· Communication: Report out-of-stock items, competitive activity, and price discrepancies.
· Merchandising: Cross-merchandise products, build secondary displays, display vehicles, shippers, and point of sale (POS) materials.
· Resets and Plan-O-Grams: Participate in customer resets and plan-o-gram (POG) implementations.
· Store Openings: Support new store openings and grand re-openings.
· Customer Relationships: Build and maintain strong customer relationships by reporting to appropriate store personnel upon arrival.
· Product Knowledge: Advise store personnel about upcoming features, Free Standing Insert (FSI) drops, product allocations, and major product launches.
· Territory Updates: Provide information regarding the stores in your assigned territory, including new store openings, closures, and remodels. It is essential to stay informed and communicate any significant changes to your supervisor.
· Route Management: Maintain a minimum weekly visit rate of 20% and a minimum monthly visit rate of 80% based on your assigned route. Routes may be adjusted due to store closures, personnel changes, or company needs. In rural areas, visit rates may be adjusted to account for windshield time.
· Territory Flexibility: While your assigned territory will be the primary focus, there may be instances where you are asked to visit a store outside of your designated area. This flexibility ensures that we meet company needs and support store operations as required. We understand that adjustments may be challenging, but these occasional changes help meet business demands and maintain operational efficiency.
· Selling Expectations: In customers where selling is necessary—such as through open stock, shippers, and merchandising modifications (mods) via white sheets—it is expected that Sales Merchandisers actively solicit and secure as many orders as possible.
Administrative (10% of Job Expectations)
· Reporting: Complete and submit required reports on schedule.
· Payroll and Expenses: Submit hours worked according to the schedule set by ADP Payroll Company and submit expenses for approval to the Retail Supervisor.
· Email and Communication: Check your JOH email via your personal device or company tablet before starting each day.
· Equipment Reporting: Report any issues with company-provided equipment to your supervisor or the IT department.
· Meetings and Calls: Participate in team meetings and scheduled calls.
· Transportation: Provide your own transportation and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance.
Performance and Education Prerequisites
· Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
· Experience: Previous retail sales or related job experience preferred but not required.
· Skills: Strong listening, communication, and decision-making skills are essential for success in this role.

· The position may involve working in cold environments, such as frozen foods and dairy sections.
