**Job Overview**
John Alex Consultants is assisting a local hospital in hiring a director for the emergency department (ER). The emergency department experiences approximately 50,000 patient visits each year and has a staff of over 90 associates.
**Responsibilities**
The Director is responsible for the 24-hour operations of the assigned departments and/or units. This role includes overseeing clinical care delivery, leading associates, managing the department’s resources responsibly, and fostering a positive work environment for both patients and staff. The Director contributes to the organization’s success in achieving clinical outcomes, providing excellent service to all customers (including patients, families, physicians, and associates), and maintaining a strong financial position. The Director is expected to model appropriate behavior in alignment with the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Hires, coaches, develops, and evaluates the performance of associates. Works through Patient Care Coordinators (PCCs) to ensure effective implementation of the care delivery system. Coaches PCCs in their leadership of associates and strives to create positive work environments. The Director is accountable for associate retention and engagement outcomes, ensuring the effective use of human resources by planning staffing and scheduling appropriately. Collaborates with system resources for the education and development of associates.
- Participates in planning activities regarding services, and develops budgets for human resources, operating expenses, and capital expenditures. Effectively manages the fiscal plan for their area of responsibility and analyzes fiscal variances to implement appropriate management plans. Utilizes data and outcome information from various systems and sources effectively.
- Serves as a professional role model in the nursing discipline and exemplifies high-level professionalism through both knowledge and actions. Completes high-level professional certifications, such as board certifications, and actively participates in professional leadership at both local and regional levels.

Pay: $107,000.00 - $136,000.00 per year
