What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer position at John Alex Consultants?
A local healthcare system has an immediate need for a Vice President, Network Chief Compliance, and Privacy Officer to join their team. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare compliance and privacy is required. The CCPO is empowered to identify and raise compliance risks advise on how to mitigate risks and achieve and maintain compliance with Federal and state health care program requirements. They have the authority to develop Network-wide and affiliate-specific guidelines, policies, and procedures to ensure effective management of the Compliance and Privacy Programs. The CCPO may approve budgeted expenses per accounting guidelines. The CCPO and their designees have the authority to review all documents, data, and other information that are relevant to compliance and privacy activities, including but not limited to patient medical and billing records, employee records, and contractual arrangements with third parties, to direct the holding of claims for payment, and to take all other actions deemed necessary by the CCPO to carry out the duties and accountabilities described herein, including the authority to require holding of claims where appropriate to assure compliance with applicable laws. The CCPO has the authority to interview anyone within or connected to the organization in connection with a compliance or privacy investigation or risk assessment or designate an appropriate person to conduct such an interview. IV. Working Relationships/Contacts: The CCPO works collaboratively with the Network General Counsel and other members. Juris Doctor is strongly preferred, or a master’s degree in business administration, healthcare management, or related field.
The CCPO has multiple reporting relationships as follows:
A. To ensure the independence and integrity of the CCPO's functions, the CCPO will directly report on the nature and status of any material affecting the Network to: (i) the Network Board of Trustees Audit Committee during every regular meeting, (ii) the Senior Management as required, and (iii) the President/CEO and/or the Chair of the Audit Committee whenever the CCPO finds it necessary and appropriate.
B. To promote excellent job performance and to foster organizational effectiveness through appropriate coordination and communication, the CCPO shall report to the Network General Counsel in carrying out the job functions and accountabilities described herein; provided, however, that the Network General Counsel shall not have authority, in any event, to interfere with the independent judgment of the CCPO, or to impede the direct access of the CCPO to the Network Audit Committee and its Chair, to other members of Senior Management when deemed necessary and appropriate by the CCPO.
C. The CCPO directly supervises a team of 12, which consists of Network Partner Compliance and Privacy Officers, the Compliance and Privacy Manager, and the Compliance Supervisor, and guides those roles in overseeing the Privacy Analysts, and Compliance and Privacy Specialists/Auditors.
The opportunity offers a 20% base salary bonus plan, relocation assistance, and a possible signing bonus.
