Position Summary
The Lead Mechanic plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily maintenance operations of a department or establishment. This position involves conducting thorough inspections, performing regular and preventive maintenance on facilities and equipment, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, and ensuring optimal functionality of machinery. The Lead Mechanic is a resourceful problem solver who installs fixtures, replaces components, maintains cleanliness, and offers technical support to the team. Furthermore, this role includes training junior technicians, promoting efficiency, and enforcing company policies and safety standards to ensure smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform repairs and installations as necessary.
- Use Express Maintenance (CMMS) to document all maintenance activities.
- Initiate and execute preventive maintenance procedures to maintain equipment reliability.
- Team Leadership and Training:
- Lead a team of maintenance technicians, assigning daily tasks and monitoring progress.
- Develop and implement maintenance plans for optimal equipment performance.
- Train and mentor employees to enhance their technical knowledge and operational skills.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Adopt continuous improvement practices to refine procedures and enhance department efficiency.
- Food Safety and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with manufacturing standards, such as GMP, HACCP/FSMA, SQF, and allergen/sanitation protocols.
- Document and maintain preventive controls to guarantee food safety and quality.
- Report any food safety or quality concerns to management promptly.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Uphold all safety policies and workplace health guidelines.
- Foster a safety-focused culture through safe work practices, hazard reporting, and conducting safety observations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Electrical Expertise:
- Strong electrical knowledge and hands-on experience are essential for this role.
- Technical education in maintenance, electrical systems, electronics, and PLCs is required.
Additional Experience:
- Previous experience in the food industry is preferred.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, power tools, and accurate mathematical calculations is necessary.
Skills and Competencies:

- Ability to train, mentor, and share knowledge with employees.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education:
- High school diploma required.
