Financial Accountant - Entry Level

John Boos & Co. , a trusted provider of high-quality, performance driven equipment and workspaces that have inspired home cooks, chefs and foodservice industry workers for generations, is accepting applications for a full-time Entry-Level Financial Accountant to join our finance team in Effingham, IL.

SUMMARY

This position will assist with the preparation of financial reports, support month-end close processes, and act as a backup for accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. This role is ideal for someone looking to start their career in accounting and gain valuable experience in a manufacturing environment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing journal entries, performing reconciliations, and adjusting financial data.
• Serve as a backup for accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.

- AP: Assist with invoice verification, vendor payments, and resolving discrepancies.

- AR: Assist with invoicing customers, posting customer payments, and managing collections as needed.

• Assist with reconcile bank and general ledger accounts, investigate discrepancies, and ensure accurate financial records.
• Maintain financial data and support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and information.
• Collaborate with other departments, including operations, procurement, and sales, to support cross-functional financial needs.Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve financial reporting efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (Salary commensurate with experience and education.)
• Understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software (experience with ERP systems is as plus).
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous internship or experience in accounting/finance, particularly in a manufacturing setting.
• Familiarity with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
