At John Burns Research and Consulting, we are looking for a dynamic Real Estate Thought Leader to spearhead strategic growth in land development, homebuilding, and rental housing consulting services. This role will be instrumental in expanding our Research Membership and collaborating with our Southeast team to support major industry players in the region.
What You’ll Do
As a leader in our firm, you’ll:
✅ Provide Strategic Guidance – Analyze housing demand and supply trends, offering valuable insights to clients managing large-scale development and investment businesses.
✅ Drive Business Growth – Leverage your expertise to generate consulting opportunities and research memberships with homebuilders, rental housing developers, land developers, capital sources, and public sector partners.
✅ Engage with Clients – Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective clients through in-person meetings, industry events, and consistent follow-ups.
✅ Be a Recognized Thought Leader – Represent our firm at industry conferences, contribute to media discussions, and publish insightful content on market trends.
✅ Deliver High-Impact Insights – Mentor and collaborate with our national Consulting and Research teams to create compelling reports, analyses, and data-driven presentations.
✅ Manage Financial Performance – Set and oversee budgets, track financial goals, and ensure profitability in consulting projects.
What We’re Looking For
We need a visionary leader who is:
✔ Experienced: 8 years in real estate market research, analysis, and fieldwork—or equivalent deep industry knowledge that’s transferable to this role.
✔ Analytical & Strategic: A strong background in for-sale or for-rent housing, with expertise in either Consulting or Research.
✔ A Natural Communicator: Confidently engages with clients, speaks at industry events, and builds relationships that drive business success.
✔ Tech-Savvy: Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook to create high-quality reports and presentations.
✔ Detail-Oriented & Proactive: Organized, reliable, and driven to deliver excellence.

Compensation and title will be based on skills, experience, and abilities, which can vary by person.

While the position is remote, you must be in the market we are hiring as our subject market expert. Also must be in a major market within a short distance of an airport. Looking for candidates in Charleston, Memphis, Raleigh or Nashville.
