Job Summary: The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to this classification.

Performs a variety of cleaning tasks up to and including the following:

· Performs routine and daily cleaning of patient, and clinic rooms including within our Skilled Nursing Facility

· Acute and Emergency nursing stations

· Physician offices

· Waiting rooms

· Employee dining room, and restrooms.

· Checks and replenishes paper towels, soap dispensers, lotion dispensers, and toilet paper in all patient rooms and bathrooms.

· Completes cleaning of District annex buildings; empties wastebaskets daily; and vacuums as scheduled.

· Disinfects gurneys and wheelchairs.

· Maintains supply of scrubs in Doctor’s lounge.

· Washes Skilled Nursing Facility residents’ laundry as required when a launderer is unavailable.

Essential Skills:

· Ability to use cleaning materials and operate Housekeeping Department equipment with skill and efficiency.

· Ability to maintain inventories on items issued and received.

· Ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.

· Ability to exercise judgement while maintaining areas in a clean and orderly condition.

· Ability to perform work assignments with due regard for patients.

· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.

· Complies with infection control policies, quality assurance, and confidentiality standards and policies.

· Ability to follow safety practices and use proper lifting techniques by practicing proper body mechanics and safe work techniques

· Uses interpersonal skills effectively to build and maintain cooperative working relationships; communicates positively and cooperatively with management and supervisory staff, medical staff, co-workers, patients, and other healthcare personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:

· High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

· One year custodial or housekeeping experience in a commercial or institutional setting is highly preferred.
