Early Childhood Speech Language Pathologist
2025-2026 School Year
Qualifications: Requires Missouri licensure in Speech Pathology; prefer CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence) but willing to consider a strong CFY candidate with experience in early childhood. Master’s degree in communication disorders is required. Speech/language experience in schools or other comparable settings preferred. This position also requires travel to other school buildings and locations.
Position Summary: To create an educational program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with students; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a quality education, in accordance with each student’s ability; establish good relationships with parents and with other staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedules and instructs students in assigned schools.
- Teaches district approved curriculum and adheres to adopted Board of Education policies.
- Assesses the strengths and weaknesses of assigned students on a regular basis.
- Develops IEPs and implements educational learning plans to meet the speech/language needs, interests, and abilities of the students on caseload.
- Provide direct and consultative therapy services to students with a variety of speech and language delays.
- Identify students' needs and make appropriate referrals and develop strategies for individual education plans.
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff and community.
- Regularly communicate with parents and caregivers, providing updates on therapy progress and strategies for home reinforcement.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of therapy sessions, progress reports, IEPs, and other relevant documentation.
- Utilize evidence-based techniques and interventions to improve students’ speech, language, and social communication skills.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Collaborate with teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapist, paraprofessionals, and other professionals to support students’ overall development.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and augmentative and alternative communication systems.
- Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to effectively organize and prioritize work.
- Must be able to give and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
