Position Responsibilities:
The role will include work in the following areas:
- Work closely with scientists and engineering design and development teams across John Deere on mechanical design, thermal design, and electronic assembly processes.
- Interact and collaborate with engineers and scientists to define project goals and execute plans to design products and reliability testing.
- Support failure analysis of electronic devices, packages, and systems.
- Calibrate, maintain and operate multiple pieces of lab equipment necessary to conduct experiments.
- Reduce data to useful formats using appropriate tools.
- Maintain accurate records of the work performed and other records required by the projects.
- Share project progress through oral presentations and written reports.
- Present technical work both internally and externally.
- Think independently and develop imaginative and unique solutions to problems.
Required Skills:
- BS in Chemistry, Materials Science, or other related discipline.
- 1-2 years experience in analytical techniques for materials characterization.
- Attention to detail in laboratory work, documentation, and presentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in a diverse, global team environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage work queues, and perform multiple concurrent tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Availability to work in the office and the lab located in Fargo, ND.
What Makes You Stand Out:
- Knowledge of analytical tools such as Ion Chromatography, XRF, FTIR, UV-Vis-NIR Spectroscopy, TGA, DSC, Acoustic Microscopy, SEM/EDS, etc.
- A basic understanding of the electronics assembly process and materials used.

The US annual base salary range for this position is $86,000 - $129,000, along with eligibility for John Deere's bonus and benefit programs. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
