Title: High School Assistant Football Coach-Teaching Positions Available
Qualifications:
- Teaching certificate issued by DESE and meet all NFHS and/or MSHSAA requirements and training as directed by the Activities Director
Reports To: Activities Director and Head Coach
Job Goal:
Assist Head Coach with organizing the sport assigned to the coach. Assist Head Coach with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student-athletes in-game strategies and techniques.
Essential Job Skills and Performance Objectives:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the rules and fundamentals of the sport assigned to the coach
- Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the Head Coach
- Assist Head Coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition
- Assist with determining game strategy
- Maintain current CPR/AED and First Aid certification
- Provide emergency first aid
- Complete all training to comply with MSHSAA requirements
- Model the skills of the sport
- Develop positive relations with students and parents (this includes proper dress, language, demeanor, and student/adult and/or student/teacher relations)
- Help screen student-athletes for membership on a team
- Model sport-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct toward players, officials, and spectators
- Be active in conditioning and training through camps and individual contacts
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Activities Director and/or Head Coach
Terms of Employment:
Appointed annually for the term of the season. The Activities Director makes appointment recommendations annually prior to the season of the sport assigned. The final decision is made by the Board of Education. All coaching stipends are based on the annually approved stipend schedule per the Board of Education.
Evaluation:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of MSBA Board of Education Policy on Evaluation of Professional Staff (GCN) or Evaluation of Support Staff (GDN)
