POSITION TITLE
SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONAL
REPORTS TO: SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER AND BUILDING PRINCIPALS
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent. Sixty college hours or has passed Paraprofessional Assessment (required for Schoolwide Title 1 buildings only). Experience and training in working with children with special needs is desired.
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
- Perform clerical duties such as preparing daily assignment sheets, tests, filing, typing, copying and grading student work.
- Assist in small group or individual instruction.
- Assist the teacher by monitoring student behavior and on-task time.
- Assist students with personal care as needed on an individual basis.
- Participate in professional development activities as necessary to meet district and state requirements for in-service.
- Comply with federal, state, local, and Board of Education policies and regulations.
- Interacts with students/staff and promotes school district in positive manner.
- Serve as a liaison between regular education, parents, and special education teachers.
- Any other duties as assigned by the special education teacher with the approval of the Assistant Superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employment is on an annual basis. This is an at will position. The Superintendent of Schools makes employment recommendations in April of each year for the next fiscal year. The final decision is made by the Board of Education. Salary is based on the Classified Salary Schedule adopted annually by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION
An annual evaluation is conducted by the supervising special education teacher each year using the evaluation method adopted by the Board of Education.
