Position Overview:
- The Emergency Department Technician II is a non-professional, emergency medical technician who assists with the direct care of emergency department patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse and who performs other essential non-direct patient duties.
- The ED Technician II performs EKG’s, assists the physician with procedures/suturing, applies splints, performs wound care, takes vital signs and weights, collects specimens, performs CPR and assists the nursing staff as delegated.
- The ED Technician additionally transports patients via wheelchair or gurney and provides safety and comfort for patients and their families.
- The ED technician II supervises the ED Technician I and is responsible for twenty-four hour coverage of ED Technicians in the Emergency Department and for completing a schedule with appropriate coverage.
- The ED Technician II is a mentor for new hires and existing staff and contributes to the orientation process.
- The ED Technician II uses effective verbal and written skills to communicate with people on all levels, and is able to maintain positive working relationships with patients, families, co-workers, and physicians.
- Greets patients and visitors in person or on the telephone, obtains demographic and medical information for registration and identification.
- Fosters a supportive environment and promotes customer service by assisting with JFK’s goals in obtaining 100 percent satisfaction rates among our most important constituents.
Shift: Rotate
Hours: Hours are variable. Two shifts per week, one day shift (0700-1930), and one night shift (1900-0730).

2. Current EMT/ or EMT-P Certificate (maintained at all times).
3. Two (2) years Emergency Technician Experience - Preferred.
4. Basic Computer Skills.
5. Spanish Speaking - Preferred.
