Job Summary :
The Residentail Aide / Assistant (RA) provides hands-on experience in supporting individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (IID) in a 24 / 7 Intermediate Care Facility. The role focuses on learning caregiving techniques and providing essential care, safety, and support to residents. After gaining experience and certification (CRMA), the RA can advance to a Developmental Trainer Assistant (DTA) role, assisting in activities of daily living (ADLs), fostering independence, and promoting self-advocacy.
Key Responsibilities :
Safety : Adhere to safety protocols, including emergency management, crisis prevention, and infection control, ensuring a secure environment for residents and staff.
Medical Care : Observe and report changes in health, assist with emergency medical situations, and advocate for residents in medical appointments.
Personal Care : Assist with ADLs such as bathing, feeding, and dressing, using specialized equipment and ensuring dignity and privacy.
Habilitation : Support individual treatment plans, fostering personal growth and independence through active treatment in home and community settings.
Behavioral Support : Learn and implement behavioral support strategies, including data collection and reinforcing positive behaviors.
Community Participation : Facilitate residents' involvement in recreational and community activities, respecting their preferences and choices.
Infection Control : Follow infection control protocols and report any health issues promptly.
Emergency Management : Participate in disaster drills and respond appropriately to emergencies, ensuring safety and well-being.
Environmental Maintenance : Ensure cleanliness and safety of living and common areas, adhering to sanitation standards.
Compliance : Follow all regulations related to abuse / neglect reporting, rights, and health safety.
Communication : Maintain clear, respectful communication with residents, staff, families, and external parties.
Teamwork : Work collaboratively with other team members, providing feedback and participating in staff meetings.
Training : Complete required training to advance to DTA role, including CPR, infection control, and other relevant certifications.
Financial Support : Assist residents with managing personal finances, tracking receipts, and using company cards as needed.
Scheduling : Work flexible hours, including holidays and weekends, to meet the needs of residents and the facility.
Vehicle Use : Operate company vehicles safely, adhering to all regulations and ensuring the safety of passengers.
Other Duties : Participate in committees, projects, and any other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications :
