About Us: LABBB Collaborative provides educational programming and support services for over 300 special needs students from over 65 districts. LABBB serves students ages 3 to 22 years old with a variety of special needs including students on the autism spectrum, students with multi-handicaps, pervasive development disorders, developmental delays, language deficits and social/emotional challenges. The LABBB community has a vision of skill-based instruction that considers the whole student from early childhood to adult living. About the role: LABBB is hiring a Middle School Special Education Teacher to work with students with mild to moderate intellectual, neurological disorders and behavior challenges. The classroom is a multi-grade substantially separate classroom located at John Glenn Middle School in Bedford. Emphasis on the development of social, communication, and behavior skills are thread throughout daily classroom activities. Candidate should have experience in ABA, modifying curriculum, use of a variety of instructional technology, including some AAC/AT knowledge and working with general education teachers to create an inclusive school culture and opportunities for students.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required; working towards Master’s degree required.
  • Valid DESE License/Certification to practice as Special Education Teacher in Massachusetts (moderate special needs or severe special needs as indicated by your program) Candidates who are close to licensure, who are eligible for licensure, or who have a different DESE license and are willing to pursue the appropriate licensure will be considered.
  • Strong background in the use of assistive technology and equipment related to occupational therapy.
  • Willingness and experience working with students with a focus on social emotional needs who potentially present with mild to moderate behaviors.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a LABBB van during the day.
  • Working full time (35 hours per week), 11 months (school calendar plus required 4 weeks in summer).

Responsibilities:, •Provide direct teaching services for children and adolescents in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local codes and regulations for educational and school-based purposes. •Write and implement goals, objectives, accommodations, modifications, service delivery, transition planning, and summary of student performance as needed for the IEP; Attend IEP meetings to communicate results of evaluations/ re-evaluations, goals, objectives, accommodations, modifications, intervention plan, and type of service delivery needed. •Attends required staff meetings; professional development trainings; and serve, as appropriate, on staff committees. •Complete regular documentation including data collection, progress notes, individualized education plans, formal and informal assessments, and Medicaid billing as indicated. •Supervise Teaching Assistants •Support students' development of independence, social awareness, language, academic skills and appropriate behavior. •Create and modify curriculum materials, support, and instructional strategies as necessary to meet students’ needs in the classroom and community settings. •Collaborate with members of multidisciplinary teams including teachers, BCBA, OT, PT, SLP, Counselors, and Vision providers and implement treatment plans as needed or requested to support skill development, generalization, and transition planning across settings and throughout the day. •Uphold LABBB’s mission and core values as well as adhere to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the field and contribute to a positive and safe school culture. •Support students’ personal care needs which may include activities of daily living (ADL’s) such as communication, toileting, feeding, transferring, self-care, and assistance with mobility including lifting.

Salary Range: $68,298 to $129,901, commensurate with experience and education. *2024-2025 Salary range is for school year and includes compensation for required 4-week summer program.
