Position Overview
The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes and equipment to ever-improve Safety, Customer Quality, Right First Time, on-time delivery, and cost-effectiveness. The role involves analysing manufacturing and production workflows, troubleshooting issues, developing others’ capabilities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance manufacturing operations (through clear plans that underpin the Site & Co strategy).
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
Health, Safety & Quality:
a) Ensure processes comply with industry OSHA regulations and company standards
b) Document and train-out Safe Systems of Work, Risk Assessments, and Quality SOPs
c) Partner QA team to improve product consistency and resolve non-conformances
d) Conduct process validation and risk assessments
Core Manufacturing Processes:
a) Responsible-Person for CORE Manufacturing-Processes, definition and SOPs
b) Design, evaluate, and continually improve manufacturing processes
c) Analyse production workflows to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements
d) Identify, specify, justify, and deliver capital investment projects
e) Strategically embed Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing principles
Manufacturing Support:
a) Provide technical support & training for production operatives & Team Leaders.
b) Provide product-technical and process-design support.
c) Troubleshoot process-related issues and implement corrective actions
e) Implement automation and digital tools to enhance data-capture & productivity
Equipment & Technology Management:
a) Assist in the selection, installation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment
b) Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for equipment use
c) Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure optimal equipment performance
Essential Skills/Experience Required
Technical Skills
1. Resolving & preventing OSHA risks/issues through GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
2. Deep knowledge of engineering machine shops, machining processes, and equipment (inc CNC)
3. Manufacturing process design, optimisation and work-place-design (ideally inc 5S)
4. Time-in-motion studies, work/process balancing and production-flow
5. Implementations of time/costings and efficiency KPIs
6. Statistical analysis and reporting
7. Fault-finding and root cause analysis methodology and resolution
8. Proficient in Microsoft Office
9. Writing and training-out SOPs and training/user guides (Standard Operating Procedures)
10. Medium-Sized Capital Investment project research, justification & delivery
11. Designing & delivering training, plus daily coaching of others in GMP
