Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Performs routine safety inspection on all spraying equipment.
- Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state and federal regulations and is responsible for the safety and direction of chemical handlers and helpers.
- Operate sprayers and spreaders.
- Read and interpret labels of chemicals.
- Keep MSDS books current.
- Manage inventory and usage of applications, pesticides, and other chemicals and fertilizers.
- Develops/works with assistants for pesticide programs.
- Other duties as requested or assigned.
- Position is busy, non smoking private residential community.
- The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places.
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic and caustic chemicals.
- Routinely works in outside weather conditions, is frequently exposed to hot and cold and wet and or humid weather conditions.
- While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
- Employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. Physical requirements may include frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. - For the safety and security of our residents and patients, employees must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English, which is the most universally used language of our resident and employee population.
- Requires current state, Commercial Applicator License.
- Requires a complete knowledge of chemical application equipment.
- Requires knowledge in safe mechanical operation calibration of following types of equipment: Mechanically pressurized spray equipment, hand-operated spray equipment, hand- operated rotary and drop spreaders, utility tractors.
- Current clean Florida Drivers License record.
- Must present a positive, professional image.
- Must be self-motivated and customer service oriented.
- Strong interpersonal as well as written and oral communication skills.
- Must maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions: skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., lift overhead and push/pull, and move lighter objects.
- Must maintain a professional, respectful, friendly demeanor with all residents, family members, guests, and staff at all times.
