What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Inclusion Teacher position at John P Oldham Elementary School?
• Select teaching strategies for implementing IEP goals and objectives within the general education classroom for assigned students.
• Maintain continuous performance data on student IEP objectives and documents progress on IEP forms and inform staff or data.
• Monitor and adjust teaching strategies to the students' changing needs in the least restrictive setting.
• Coordinate specialized instruction with regular education curriculum as appropriate.
• Establish classroom management programs for students.
• Train and supervise Para-Professional Aides and volunteers as required in conjunction with regular education classroom.
• Develop and manage learning experiences for all classroom activities, i.e. small group, direct instruction, inclusion, independent
practice and one-on-one.
• Apply current special education practices and theories.
• Establish, monitor and adjust behavior management plans for individual students' needs.
• Work cooperatively with staff to implement, train and monitor specialized behavior plans with appropriate students.
• Access available resources, personnel, literature, research and in-services.
• Complete all required reports and records in an accurate and timely manner.
• Work effectively with multidisciplinary team and other professionals regarding needs of special students for assuring appropriate
learning experiences.
• Communicate appropriately and effectively with parents, staff and students.
• Conduct appropriate assessments to determine program eligibility and services and provide written reports or evaluations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
